Characteristics

Plants 50-100 mm high. Corm globose, obliquely flattened toward base with crescent-shaped basal ridge ± as wide as corm, 8-15 mm diam., tunics splitting into fine parallel fibrils along ridge. Stem usually subterranean, or shortly exserted up to 30 mm. Leaves 3 or 4, lowermost 1 basal when stem exserted, terete, narrowly 4-grooved, 0.5-1.0 mm diam. Peduncles up to 4, up to 80 mm long, semiterete, strongly curved initially in fruit; outer bracts green with narrow membranous margins, 8-10 mm long, lightly striate (3 or 4 veins/mm), inner bracts thin-textured or submembranous with central part flushed green or purplish, with broad membranous margins speckled with brown along margins and sometimes in central area. Flowers golden-yellow with darker cup, outer tepals pale green on reverse, lightly scented; perianth tube funnel-shaped, 3-4 mm long; tepals elliptic, 11-13 x 4-5 mm. Filaments 4 mm long, pilose basally, yellow; anthers 4 mm long. Style dividing below anther tips, branches 1 mm long, divided halfway. Capsules ellipsoid, ± 8 mm long.
