Characteristics

Plants 50-100 mm high. Corm subglobose, obliquely flattened toward base with crescent-shaped basal ridge, 8-10 mm diam., tunics woody, split into fine parallel fibrils on basal ridge. Stem subterranean. Leaves (2)3 to 5, all evidently basal, narrowly 4-grooved, 0.5-1.0 mm diam. Peduncles up to 4, hemiterete, suberect or slightly arching in fruit; outer bract green, with narrow, brown-flecked membranous margins widening above into prominent, brown-flecked membranous apex, 15-25 mm long, ribbed (± 6 veins/mm), inner bracts with broad, brown-flecked membranous margins, central portion green with 16 to 18 raised veins. Flowers pale to buttercup yellow, sometimes with orange throat, outer tepals greenish streaked brown on reverse; perianth tube ± cup-shaped, 4-5 mm long; tepals oblanceolate to elliptic, 25-40 x 8-14 mm. Filaments 6-8 mm long, pilose near base; anthers 7-10 mm long, yellow. Style dividing near anther apices, branches divided. Capsules shortly cylindric, 10-15 mm long.

Leaves mainly basal, filiform, 100-250 x up to 1 mm, usually curved, grooves narrow. Bracts green, outer with narrow, and inner with wide brown-streaked membranous margins and tips. Flowers 30-50 mm long, lemon-yellow, outer segments on the backs yellowish green or brownish, or dark-veined.
