Characteristics

Plants ± 60 mm high. Corm subglobose, oblique with crescent-shaped basal ridge, tunics woody, split into clusters of convergent fibrils on basal ridge; stem subterranean or shortly aerial. Leaves 2, lowermost basal, falcate, H-shaped in section, 4-6 mm wide, lateral ribs reduced and median (apparently marginal) ribs produced into flange-like wings, densely villous along margins of wings with hairs in two diverging rows. Peduncles 1 or 2, villous along angles in distal part, spreading in fruit; outer bracts green with narrow colourless margins, subobtuse, 13-15 mm long, strongly keeled and villous along median and submarginal veins, inner bracts green with broad colourless white margins, keels densely villous. Flowers salmon-pink to dull orange with golden-yellow cup extending onto lower third of tepal limbs, outer tepals flushed coppery on reverse; perianth tube funnel-shaped, 5 mm long; tepals oblanceolate, 20-30 x 7-10 mm. Filaments 5-6 mm long, pilose in lower half, yellow; anthers 4 mm long, apically connate when young, yellow. Style dividing opposite lower 1/2 of anthers, branches ± 1.5 mm long, forked. Capsules oblong-ellipsoid, 7-9 mm long.
