Characteristics

Plants 20-40 mm high. Corm globose, obliquely flattened with wide, crescent-shaped basal ridge wider than corm, 10-12 mm diam., tunics splitting into fine, parallel fibrils clustered into scalloped fascicles along ridge. Stem subterranean or shortly exserted up to 5 mm. Leaves 4 to 6, lower 2 basal when stem developed, short and spreading, compressed, 4-grooved, 0.5-1.5 mm diam. Peduncles up to 4, semiterete, short, up to 15 mm long; outer bracts green with narrow membranous margins, 7-15 mm long, striate (3 or 4 veins/mm), inner bracts green in centre with broad membranous margins flecked or flushed light brown. Flowers narrowly funnel-shaped, mauve to lilac or pink with yellow throat streaked with purple, tube reddish ochre-coloured on outside; perianth tube narrowly funnel-shaped, 10-13 mm long; tepals lanceolate, ± 13 x 3 mm. Filaments inserted in lower half of tube 3-4 mm from base, 8-9 mm long, exserted ± 2 mm, pilose at base; anthers ± 3 mm long, pale yellow. Style dividing between base and middle of anthers, branches ± 2 mm long, divided halfway. Capsule unknown.
