Characteristics

Plants 30-100 mm high. Corm obovoid to oblong, obliquely flattened toward base with high, crescent-shaped or ± flattened or wavy basal ridge, 12-15 x 8-12 mm, tunics splitting into fine parallel fibrils along ridge. Stem subterranean. Leaves 5 to 12, apparently all basal, mostly arcuate or spreading, terete to oval in section and narrowly 4-grooved, 1.0-1.5 mm diam. Peduncles up to 5, rather short, up to 50 mm long, semiterete, initially arcuate in fruit but later erect; outer bracts thin-textured or submembranous, reddish green in upper half, finely and widely striate (3 to 5 veins/mm), with narrow, ± colourless membranous margins, 8-10 mm long, inner bracts largely membranous or somewhat herbaceous in centre near tip with wide, membranous margins weakly or sparsely brown-spotted near tip. Flowers white with greenish yellow cup, outer tepals greenish on reverse; perianth tube funnel-shaped, 2.5-3.5 mm long; tepals elliptic, 10-12 x 3-4 mm. Filaments 3-4 mm long, minutely puberulous; anthers 3.5-4.0 mm long, pale yellow. Style dividing near tops of anthers, branches ± 1 mm long, divided. Capsules ellipsoid, 10-15 mm long.

Plants 120-200 mm long. Leaves 120-200 x c. 1 mm. Inner bract largely membranous with slender brown veins in the centre and white membranous margins with faint brownish spots towards the tip. Flowers 16-20 mm long, cream or white, yellowish green in the lower half and on the backs of the outer segments. Perianth segments 10-12 x 3-4 mm. Anthers 3.5-4 mm long. Style 6-8 mm long.
Like R. minutiflora but flowers 15-20 mm long, white with yellow cup, anthers 3.5-4.0 mm long, inner bracts with inconspicuous spots.
