Characteristics

Plants 15-50 mm high but leaf up to 150 mm long. Corm subglobose, obliquely flattened toward base with crescent-shaped basal ridge ± as wide as corm, 5-10 mm diam., tunics splitting into fine parallel fibrils along ridge. Stem subterranean. Leaf 1(2), basal, filiform and conduplicate for most of its length, distal portion narrowly 4-grooved, 0.5-0.8 mm diam. Peduncles 1 or 3, semiterete, 5-20 mm long, suberect in fruit; outer and inner bracts entirely membranous and colourless or flushed reddish brown or greenish in upper half. Flowers salver-shaped, lilac to purple with darker ring around throat and yellow or orange in upper part of tube, outer tepals mottled purple on reverse; perianth tube narrowly tubular widening slightly above, 11-17 mm long; tepals spreading, elliptic, 7-11 x 2-4 mm. Filaments inserted almost at top of tube, 2.0-3.5 mm long, glabrous; anthers 2-3 mm long, violet with paler pollen. Style dividing near top of anthers, branches ± 1 mm long, divided for half their length. Capsules ellipsoid, 5-8 mm long.

Leaves 1-2, filiform, flexuose or suberect, 100-130 x 0.5-0.8 mm, grooves very narrow, the adaxial groove open almost to the leaf tip. Bracts submembranous, reddish brown or greenish in the upper part, inner with narrow membranous margins. Flowers 20-30 mm long, pale purple or pale violet, darker violet in the throat, outer segments mottled purple on the back; Perianth tube 11-17 mm long, narrowly tubular; segments elliptical, 7-11 x 2-4 mm. Filaments 2-3.5 mm; anthers 2-3 mm long, violet. Style 15-20 mm; stigmas at the anther tips.
