Characteristics

Plants 50-150 mm high. Corm subglobose, 5-10 mm diam., obliquely flattened toward base with crescent-shaped basal ridge, tunics splitting into fine parallel fibrils along basal ridge. Stem subterranean or exserted up to 150 mm. Leaves 3 to 5, lower 2 basal, filiform, narrowly 4-grooved, 0.5-1.0 mm diam. Peduncles up to 4, semiterete, ciliolate along angles; outer bracts green with narrow membranous margins, widely striate (3 or 4 veins/mm), 8-15 mm long, inner bracts with wide membranous margins brown-speckled along edges. Flowers golden-yellow dark marks at base of tube, outer tepals copper-coloured on reverse with dark feathering; perianth tube funnel-shaped, 4-5 mm long; tepals elliptic, 12-25 x 3.5-7.0 mm. Filaments 6-9 mm long, pilose, yellow; anthers 3-4.0 mm long, yellow. Style dividing below anther apices, branches 2 mm long, divided halfway. Capsules and seeds unknown.

More, filiform, 50-150 mm long, less than 1 mm wide, with ribs and grooves hardly visible. Inner bract green, with brown-speckled membranous margins. Flowers 15-25 mm long, sulphur-yellow, often with dark linear-oblong marks in the cup, outer segments with a purple spot on each side at the base. Perianth tube 4-5 mm long; segments 12-20 x 4-5 mm, subacute to subobtuse. Filaments 6-9 mm; anthers 2.5-3 mm, yellow. Style 8-11 mm; stigmas reaching the anther tips. Capsules obovoid.
