Characteristics

Annual or perennial to 70 cm tall, scrambling to erect, sparingly branched. Leaves chiefly basal, simple to pinnate with 4 pairs of lobes, mostly to 10 cm long; serrate to almost entire; with sparse ciliform hairs, chiefly on margins and lower surface; petiole up to 15 cm long; cauline leaves reduced. Sepals 1.5–2.5 mm long, usually ciliate. Petals 2–3 mm long, white or pink. Stamens 6. Style 1.5 mm long. Siliqua linear, 7–30 mm long, 0.7–2.5 mm wide, straight, spreading; valves usually thin, midrib fading above; pedicels spreading to horizontal, 5–20 mm long. Seeds ovoid, slightly compressed, 0.75–1.25 mm wide; testa tuberculate, the tubercles stronger on the margins, tending to be in concentric lines on the face, not mucous.
