Perennial herb, up to 0.6 m high; often in moist places but not generally aquatic. Stems erect, slender; minutely and sparsely tuberculate in lower half or smooth. Leaves with basal leaves in a rosette; petiolate, blade lyrate-pinnatifid, 2-9-jugate with lateral, short, rounded or lobulate, lateral lobes, terminal lobe ovate or obovate, dentate to lobulate or blade broadly obovate-ovate to ovate, serrate or dentate, not lobulate; stem leaves few, smaller. Flowers: in terminal racemes; petals narrowly obovate, base cuneate, 3.0-4.5 mm long, yellow; Oct.-Feb. Fruit with pedicels wide-spreading; siliquae linear-oblong, 12-33 x 2.0-2.8 mm; reticulately veined; style clavate or obconical.
