Petals c. 1·25 × 1 mm., pink-mauve, broadly ovate, slightly rounded at the apex, shortly clawed and cordate at the base.
Stamens 4, opposite the lobes, inserted a little below the middle of the calyx-tube; filaments c. 3 mm. long, exserted.
Calyx c. 2·5 mm. long, campanulate; tube c. 1·5 mm. long; lobes triangular, c. 1 × 1 mm., apiculate; appendages 0.
Ovary c. 1 × 0·5 mm., ellipsoid, 2-locular, shortly stipitate; style c. 0·75 mm. long; stigma capitate.
Flowers 4-merous, solitary, axillary, sessile; bracteoles c. 0·5 mm. long, subulate, scarious.
Stems c. 2 mm. in diameter; lower internodes up to 12 mm. long, the upper ones very short.
Nectariferous ring of 4 free scales opposite to the petals.
Seeds c. 0·6 × 0·3 mm. long, elliptic in outline.
Annual partly submerged herb c. 20 cm. high.
Capsule 2 × 1·5 mm., ellipsoid, 2-valved.
