Origin: in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, by Canada Dept. Agr., Res. Sta. Lloyd George × Newman; selected in 1931; tested as Ottawa 276; introd. in 1943. Tree: canes medium spiny; medium short; winter hardy; very productive. Very susceptible to anthracnose. Fruit: large; conic; dark red; moderately firm, quality fair; ripens very early.
