Cultivation

Origin: in Puyallup, Wash., by C.D. Schwartze and Arthur S. Myhre, Washingon State Univ. Washington × Tahoma; selected in 1938; introd. in 1956. Tree: productive; numerous canes of medium height and upright habit; winter hardy in Pacific Northwest. Resistant to powdery mildew and to western yellow rust; susceptible to the North American aphid vector of the raspberry mosaic virus complex. Fruit: medium size; medium red; firm; sweet flavor; midseason ripening; fresh and processing use.
