Origin: in Glenn Dale, Md., by G.M. Darrow, U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. Latham × Ranere; selected in 1923; introd. in 1939. Tree: very winter hardy; resistant to leaf spot and can spot. Fruit: red; fine texture; quality better than Latham; does not crumble; matures very early, 2 days before Ranere and nearly 2 weeks before Latham; picks easily.
