Daubeny, Agr. and Agri-Food Canada, Pacific Agr. Res. Centre, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; seedlings grown in 1984 and selection made in Lincoln, New Zealand, in 1987; tested as R61; introd. in 1990. Tree: large numbers of semi-upright canes that arch into row; floricanes light brown with gray bloom and basal spines; moderate budbreak; medium-length, strongly attached laterals with 30 to 40 fruit each; leafy habit hides some fruit. Susceptible to root rot and to infection by pollen transmission of raspberry busky dwarf virus. Fruit: large; light-medium red and moderately glossy; firm; moderately difficult to harvest; mid-to late season, ripening 6 to 8 days after Marcy.
