Leaves free to base or very shortly fused. Plants spiny. Shrublet to 35 cm, often with thickened fusiform roots, branches whitish beige. Leaves 10-15 mm long, with small prominent dots. Flowers in dense, spiny, terminal cymes, pink, ±15 mm diam. Fruits with narrow valve wings.
