Characteristics

Plants decumbent to erect. Erect shrublet with grey-brown branches. Leaves fused below and forming a swollen sheath, cylindrical to trigonous, mucronate, 20-30 mm long. Flowers in compound cymes, magenta, to 15 mm diam., pedicels turning into blunt spines after fruits have fallen off. Fruits 5-locular.
