Characteristics

Plants caespitose; innovation buds intravaginal. Culms 6–13 cm high. Inflorescences obliquely ovate. Spikelets 9.5–11 mm long, with 4 florets; pedicels diverging from inflorescence axis. Glumes slightly exceeding florets; lower glume 9.5–11 mm long, c. 3 mm wide. Lemma: body 2.2–2.8 mm long, glabrous between the rows of tufts; upper row of hair tufts of marginal and some dorsal tufts; lower row of tufts complete or of marginal and some dorsal tufts or of only marginal tufts (tufts so sparse that it is difficult to determine which condition holds), equalling the upper row; lobes as long as body; setae 2.4–3.2 mm long, as long as lobes; awn 7.5–8.5 mm long, exceeding setae; awn column tightly twisted. Palea 3.3–3.6 mm long, narrow, 3–5 times as long as wide, slightly exceeding lemma sinus. Anthers 0.7 mm long. Caryopsis 1.6 mm long.
