Flowers 5–15 in subsessile bracteate head-like inflorescences; peduncle 1–1.8 cm long, appressed pubescent; pedicels up to 3 mm long in fruit; bracts in 2 pairs, leaf-like, 1.5–2.5 × 1–2.2 cm, ovate, acuminate, reticulate-veined, pilose.
Woody climber or prostrate suffruticose herb, the young stems densely appressed-pubescent or with dense spreading ferruginous or purplish hairs 2–3 mm long; older stems glabrescent with ± peeling purplish bark.
Calyx pubescent; tube 3 mm long, ellipsoid; limb-tube 2–5 mm long; lobes 7–10 × 1–3 mm, lanceolate.
Corolla densely pilose outside; tube c. 1.4 cm long; lobes white 2–3 × 1 mm.
Fruits maroon when ripe, about 10 × 9 mm, ovoid, appressed pilose.
Seeds brown with paler margins, 0.9–1.1 mm long.
