Flowers in subsessile axillary rather dense ± few-flowered inflorescences; peduncle 0–5(10) mm long, pilose; pedicels very short but attaining 3–5 mm in fruit; bracts few, 5–8 × 1–1.2(3) mm, narrowly oblong to elliptic.
Slender-stemmed woody climber 1.5–4 m long or a trailer rooting at the nodes; stems brown to purplish-brown, densely substrigose-pilose when young, older stems more sparsely so, and the bark sometimes peeling.
Calyx tube about 1.2 mm long and wide, ovoid or subglobose, pilose, eventually glabrescent; limb-tube about 1 mm long; lobes 3–9 × 1–1.8(2.5) mm, elliptic or linear-oblong to lanceolate, acute, ciliate.
Corolla tube purple or deep wine-coloured, c. 1 cm long, pilose outside, densely pubescent at throat; lobes white, c. 2 × 0.8–1.2 mm, oblong-elliptic to ovate, densely pilose outside.
Fruit white, 7–8(11) mm in diameter, pilose, later glabrescent, with red pulp.
