Characteristics

Branchlets sharply 4-angular. Stipules triangular, c. 1 mm long, laciniate. Leaves subcoriaceous, elliptic-lanceolate, or lanceolate, 14-19 by 4.5-6.5cm. base cuneate to attenuate; apex acuminate; margin serrate-crenate; nerves c. 12 pairs; petiole 1-1⅓ cm. Flowers fascicled, a few in a leaf axil. Pedicels 2-5 mm. Calyx lobes (from flower-bud) deltoid or triangular, 0.5-1 mm long, short-fimbriate. Petals green, fleshy, subrotund, or broad-elliptic, 3.5-4 by 2¾-3.75 mm; margin thin, yellowish and transparent (after boiling), entire or slightly erose. Disk round, flat, 3-4 mm ø, slightly convex near the central part (l/2-2/3 mm high) and gradually, slightly thinner towards the margin. Stamens 3, c. 1 mm; anthers slightly obliquely dehiscing. Pistil c. 1 mm emerging from the disk. Ovary 3-celled. Ovules 2 in each cell, pendulous.
