Glabrous liane or scandent shrub to 25 m.. Latex threads absent.. Stems green, smooth, ± quadrangular and ridged when young, becoming greyish brown or purplish and subterete, the lenticels not especially prominent.. Leaves opposite or subopposite, petiolate; petiole 5–10 mm. long; blade subcoriaceous, slightly glossy deep green above, dull and paler beneath, elliptic, 4–16 cm. long, 2–8(–10.5) cm. wide, usually acuminate but sometimes acute, cuneate to rounded at base, veins slightly prominent above and beneath but not conspicuously reticulate; margin serrate, sometimes only shallowly and remotely so.. Inflorescence glabrous, consisting of axillary sessile fascicles; bracts ovate or triangular, ± 0.5–1 mm. long, entire or erose; pedicels 4–8 mm. long at anthesis, articulated at the base.. Buds conical, ± 2 mm. long.. Flowers yellow, cream or greenish, ± 5–6 mm. in diameter.. Sepals, much overlapping but free, subequal, broadly ovate or semicircular, ± 0.3–0.5 mm. long, rounded, fimbriate.. Petals ovate-oblong, without a claw, ± 3 mm. long, rounded, entire.. Disc columnar, confluent with young ovary, 1–1.5 mm. long and broad.. Stamens with slender filaments widened at the base, 1 mm. long.. Ovary conical, partially immersed in the disc, with a subulate style 0.5 mm. long; stigma punctiform; ovules 2 per locule..
