Characteristics

Dwarf shrub, up to 0.45 m high; yellowish green, not blackening when dried; branches, leaves and flowers alternate. Stems divaricately branched, branches densely covered with buds; young shoots densely pubescent. Leaves scale-like; blade orbicular, ± 1.6 x 1.6 mm, base gibbous, spur-like, glabrous, wrinkled when dry. Flowers: in dense, few-flowered, spicate inflorescences; bracteoles glabrous or loosely pubescent; flowering shoots elongated, densely covered with buds above flowers and imbricate leaves to apex; perianth winged, yellowish green; Dec.-Feb.
