Characteristics

Epiphyte usually consisting of a single, semi-pendulous growth. Stem 10–20 mm long. Leaves 3–6, crowded, 50–100 × 20 mm, curved, thin-textured but leathery, mid to dark green, margins wavy, finely toothed. Racemes 20–40 mm long, club-shaped, fleshy, 2–10-flowered. Flowers 14–18 × 12–15 mm, reddish brown with white and yellow bands on labellum. Sepals and petals widely spreading, base narrowed. Dorsal sepal 5–6 × 5–6 mm. Lateral sepals 5–7 × 3–4 mm. Petals 5–6 × 2–3 mm. Labellum c. 4 × 4 mm, white with reddish brown and yellow markings; lateral lobes c. 4 × 2 mm, incurved; midlobe c. 1 mm long, fleshy, shallowly notched; spur c. 3 mm long, blunt.

Highly localised; found growing on shrubs, trees and vines (particularly Lawyer Canes – Calamus species) in dense highland rainforest, in thick vegetation on slopes above streams, and on shrubs and trees beside small streams, usually in shady situations.
