Characteristics

Small epiphyte usually consisting of a single growth. Stem 40–80 mm long. Leaves 3–7, 50–90 × 10–12 mm, curved, thin textured, leathery, bright green to yellowish green. Racemes arching to pendulous, 50–70 mm long, 3–15-flowered. Flowers 12–16 × 12–15 mm, cream, white or greenish with large purple or reddish spots and blotches, dark spot on labellum apex. Sepals and petals broad, spathulate, somewhat waxy, widely spreading or remaining cupped. Dorsal sepal 7–10 × 3–4 mm. Lateral sepals 8–11 × 3.5–4.5 mm. Petals 6–9 × 3–4 mm. Labellum c. 1.5 mm long; lateral lobes c. 4 × 1 mm, incurved; midlobe vestigial; spur c. 2 mm long, rounded, fleshy.

Highly localised and generally quite rare; found growing on shrubs and small trees in humid hilly and mountainous areas well inland from the coast; also occurs in isolated patches of dry scrub. Usually grows on twigs and small branches, less commonly on trunks and larger branches.
