Characteristics

Erect shrub to 30 cm; branches angled; branchlets often tinged pink. Leaves acute or obtuse, 30–100 mm long, 4.5–7 mm wide, densely covered with small warts, glaucous with pink tinge at apex and along edges; adaxial surface flat; lateral surfaces convex; keel either smooth or denticulate throughout. Flowers sessile or pedicellate, on branchlets at right angles to main stem, almost enclosed in a bilobed oblong involucre except petal-like staminodes. Sepals 4, rarely 5; ovary oblong, terete, concave on top.
