A terrestrial herb 7–20 cm. high, almost glabrous except for the roots.. Tubers ovoid to ellipsoid-cylindrical, 1–3 cm. long, 5–10 mm. in diameter, ± tomentose.. Roots slender, flexuous, sparsely pubescent.. Stem erect, slender, leafy.. Leaves altogether 4–6, the lowest often sheath-like, short, the middle 1–3 spreading, ± subopposite, lanceolate, ovate or almost orbicular, acute to obtuse, up to 2–4.5 cm. long and 1.5–4 cm. broad, fleshy, the upper 2–3 adpressed and sheath-like.. Inflorescence up to 5 cm. long, 2–2.5 cm. in diameter, rather loosely 1–8-flowered; bracts soon reflexed, lanceolate, acute, 8–15 mm. long.. Flowers curved outwards, white or rose-red, fragrant; pedicel with ovary curved, 7–9 mm. long.. Sepals and petals united with one another and with the lip in their basal half or third, projecting forwards or decurved.. Intermediate sepal oblanceolate, rounded, 7–8 mm. long, scarcely 2 mm. broad; laterals obliquely elliptical-oblong, obtuse, a little shorter and broader.. Petals like intermediate sepal but smaller, the margins ± ciliolate.. Lip fleshy, obovoid, hooded, the apex shortly recurved, the mouth narrow, ± 7 mm. long.. Spurs diverging from the ovary, 8.5–10 mm. long, 1.5 mm. in diameter at the base.. Column curved, nearly 5 mm. high; stigma erect, transversely elliptical or oblong, 2 mm. high, 3–3.5 mm. broad, rostellum 3-lobed, the lateral lobes short, the middle lobe much longer, subspathulate, rounded.
