Characteristics

Plants stout to slender, (90-) 170-380 (-550) mm tall; leaves 1-4, cauline but clustered near the stem base, ovate to narrowly ovate, 30-140 mm long. Inflorescences rather slender, (4-) 10-35 (-83)-flowered; bracts deflexed, lanceolate, 1.5 to 3 times the length of the 7-11 mm long ovary. Flowers yellowish green to dull creamy white with exposed parts tinged light to dark purple, elongate tips of the segments drying out and becoming brown a few hours after anthesis. Sepals 5-10 mm long; median strongly recurving along its length; laterals standing up close to the sides of the lip aperture for 2/3 their length, then abruptly twisted and reflexed to spreading. Petals similar to lateral sepals. Lip with 2-3 mm long apical flap; spurs 5-10 mm long. Anther curved with the apex pointing towards the rostellum, connective with 0.7 mm long apical process; stigma rather narrowly obovate-truncate, 1.5-3.5 mm long; rostellum unlobed, viscidia laterally inserted c. 3/4 way along its length.
