Characteristics

Plants to 500 mm tall; basal leaves 2, adpressed to the ground, fleshy, ovate-elliptic, to 100 mm long, cauline leaves conical and largely sheathing. Inflorescences lax to dense; bracts deflexed, 10-20 x 4-6 mm. Flowers white or cream, or tinged with pale pink; scent sweet in the evening; ovaries 8-10 mm. Sepals fused to petals only at their very base, elliptic-obovate, obtuse, 10-15 x 2-4 mm. Petals similar to sepals. Lip shallowly galeate, erect with ovate entrance, 10-12 mm high, 8-9 mm wide, 3-4 mm deep, apical flap obtuse, 2-3 mm long; spurs 19-22 mm, pendent from galea base, longer than the ovary. Gynostemium 7-9 mm long; viscidia flattened; stigma c. 2 mm high and 3.5 mm wide; rostellum unlobed, truncate.
