Characteristics

Plants erect, stems glabrous, (170-) 220-400 (-510) mm tall; leaves 2, rarely 1, spreading near the ground to partly erect, lamina oblong to ovate, 30-170 mm long. Inflorescences dense, with (3-) 8-19 (-27) rather large flowers borne close to the stem; bracts partly to fully deflexed, 2.5 times the length of the 7-9 mm long ovary. Flowers white to cream, variously marked on inner surfaces with brownish red to red-purple. Sepals 13-18 mm long, about lk to lh fused to petals and lower side of lip. Lip spurs slightly longer to slightly shorter than the ovary, 8-15 mm long. Pollinia with deltoid viscidia; stigma flap broadly semi-orbicular, c. 1.5 mm high; rostellum 0.5 mm long, obtuse, bifid, with much of the upper surface occupied by the viscidia.

Flowers white to cream-coloured, marked brownish red to red-purple. Sepals 13-18 mm long, fused to petals and lip. Lip taller than deep, apical flap 1 mm long, bent back; spur slender, 8-15 mm long. Lowermost leaves sheath-like, the next 2 leaves spreading or semi-erect, borne near the base of the stem, 5–12 × 2–4 cm, ovate, acute; upper leaves smaller and bract-like.
Sepals and petals projecting and slightly decurved, joined to each other and lip for about a third of their length.
Lip 13–14 mm long, 7–9 mm wide when spread out, wide-mouthed, with reflexed apical flap 1–2 mm long.
Column 9–11 mm long; stigma semi-orbicular, c. 1.5 mm high; rostellum less than 0.5 mm long, obtuse.
Median sepal 12–13 × 1–1.5 mm, oblong, obtuse, lateral sepals 12–15 × 2–2.5 mm, oblique.
Inflorescence 3–18 × 3–4 cm, fairly densely several-to many-flowered.
Flowers whitish with purple blotches within, or pink and white.
Terrestrial herb 20–40 cm high; tubers c. 2 cm long, ellipsoid.
Spurs 8–15 mm long, very slender from a relatively wide mouth.
Bracts up to 20 mm long at base of inflorescence, reflexed.
Stem leafy with c. 5 leaves.
Petals 12–14 × c. 1 mm.
Ovary 7–9 mm long.
