Characteristics

Shrub to 1 m high; hairs on young parts substellate, scurfy. Leaves sessile, narrowly oblong to elliptic, tapering towards base, entire, thick, greyish green; lamina 25-50 mm long, 2-5 mm wide. Flowers in dichasia or monochasia, or flowers solitary in axils; peduncle 8-15 mm long; bracteoles deltoid, 1-1.5 mm long. Sepals rim-like, sinuate, c. 0.5 mm long. Corolla 10-13 mm long, scurfy stellate-glandular-hairy outside, densely bearded inside, white to cream; barbulae prominent, papillate apically; wings nearly obsolete. Indusium 0.5 mm long, hairs above few, white, not exceeding lips. Fruit ovoid, to 5 mm long, glabrous, black.
