Characteristics

Spreading subshrub to 70 cm tall; hairs not appressed, of variable density, sometimes glandular. Leaves sessile, narrowly elliptic to obovate, usually dentate; lamina 8-30 mm long, 2-9 mm wide. Flowers in spikes to 12 cm long; bracts leaf-like, smaller; bracteoles ovate, elliptic or linear, 4-6 mm long. Sepals deltoid, c. 1 mm long, connate basally. Corolla 8-16 mm long, pubescent with ±appressed hairs outside, densely bearded inside, mauve to pale pink or white; barbulae few, simple; wings c. 0.7 mm wide. Ovary 2-locular; indusium oblong to square, 1-2 mm long, erect white or purplish hairs at base exceeding lips. Fruit obovoid, to 4 mm long, tuberculate, pubescent.
