Straggling, shrubby perennial to 1 m tall, glabrous to hispid; stems striate. Leaves ±sessile or shortly petiolate, ovate to narrowly oblong, usually entire; lamina mostly 15-30 mm long, 5-10 mm wide. Flowers in spikes to 15 cm long; bracts leafy; peduncle ±obsolete; bracteoles narrowly oblong, to 10 mm long. Sepals triangular, c. 1 mm long, connate, ±campanulate. Corolla 11-20 mm long, glabrous or with short appressed hairs towards base outside, bearded inside, white to pale blue sometimes yellow in throat; barbulae ±simple; wings c. 1 mm wide. Indusium c. 2 mm wide, scattered hairy above. Fruit ellipsoidal, 4 mm long, tuberculate, glabrous or occasionally puberulous.
