Characteristics

Decumbent or ascending shrub to 1 m tall, glabrous, viscid when young. Leaves sessile, oblanceolate to elliptic, dentate; lamina 2-10 cm long, 2-40 mm wide. Flowers in loose, terminal spikes to 9.5 cm long; bracts linear, 5-24 mm long; bracteoles linear to narrowly triangular, 2-9 mm long, exceeding sepals, keeled. Sepals rim-like, c. 0.3 mm high. Corolla 11-20 mm long, mostly viscid-glabrous outside, bearded inside, pale blue or violet; barbulae short, papillate apically; wings 1 mm wide. Ovary 2-locular; indusium c. 2 mm wide, shortly hairy on both surfaces. Fruit cylindroid, to 4 mm long, tuberculate-rugose, ±ribbed, glabrous or with scattered hairs.
