Characteristics

Prostrate, much-branched subshrub to 15 cm tall, silvery hairy. Leaves sessile, elliptic to obovate, ±recurved, dentate or entire; lamina usually 8-20 mm long, 3-13 mm wide. Flowers in dense spikes or spike-like thyrses; bracts elliptic, 5-10 mm long, entire, imbricate; bracteoles narrowly elliptic, 3-4 mm long. Sepals semiorbicular, c. 0.5 mm long, free. Corolla 8-13 mm long, with silvery, ±appressed hairs outside, bearded inside, mauve to blue; barbulae simple; wings c. 0.5 mm wide. Ovary 2-locular; indusium 1 mm long, stiff purplish beard ±equalling bristles on lips. Fruit ellipsoidal, c. 2 mm long, ±ribbed, otherwise smooth, ±pubescent.
