Shrub to 1 m tall, tomentose. Leaves sessile, broadly obovate to oblong, usually entire, with prominent, silky, axillary hairs; lamina 6-55 mm long, 2-17 mm wide. Flowers in terminal spikes to 20 cm long; bracts narrowly lanceolate to narrowly elliptic, 4-25 mm long; bracteoles linear to ovate, 4-9 mm long. Sepals rim-like, to 0.3 mm long. Corolla 5-18 mm long, straight silky hairs outside, bearded inside, blue to white; barbulae simple or papillate apically; wings 0.2-1 mm wide. Ovary incompletely 2-locular; indusium 1-2 mm wide, hairs scattered on both surfaces. Fruit cylindrical, 3-5 mm long, rugose, glabrous, usually 1-seeded.
