Characteristics

Erect, perennial subshrub to 50 cm tall, glabrous. Leaves succulent, sessile, linear to oblanceolate, entire or dentate; lamina 1-8.5 cm long, 1-9 mm wide. Flowers in terminal, leafy spikes, or solitary, or clustered in axils; bracteoles triangular, 0.5-2 mm long. Sepals ovate to triangular, 1.5-2 mm long, free. Corolla 6-17 mm long, glabrous outside, with short vesicular hairs inside, yellow to cream or mauve; barbulae vesicular or absent; wings 0.5-1 mm wide. Ovary 2-locular, with beak 1-6 mm long, contracted below; indusium 1-2 mm wide, folded above, with short vesicular hairs in channel and on lips. Fruit ellipsoidal, 8-26 mm long, with beak to 6 mm long, ribbed, glabrous.
