Characteristics

Spreading subshrub to 70 cm tall, viscid, with soft, simple hairs at 90° and pale-headed, glandular hairs ±as long as simple ones. Leaves sessile, often almost stem-clasping, obovate, dentate; lamina 21-68 mm long, 6-26 mm wide. Flowers in spikes to 12 cm long; bracts ovate-elliptic, to 15 mm long; bracteoles linear-lanceolate, 7-11 mm long. Sepals rim-like, sinuate, 0.5-1 mm long. Corolla 14-24 mm long, with hairs at 90° outside, bearded inside, blue; barbulae simple; wings to 10 mm wide. Ovary 2-locular; indusium to 2 mm long, sparse beard above scarcely equalling bristles on lips. Fruit cylindrical, 4-6 mm long, rugose, pubescent.
