Erect subshrub to 1 m tall, glabrous or with few hairs. Leaves acute to acuminate, elliptic to cuneate, tapering gradually basally, entire or dentate with narrow, acute teeth; lamina 10-40 mm long, 3-23 mm wide. Flowers in spikes to 13 cm long; bracts leaf-like, narrower; bracteoles lanceolate to linear, 4-11 mm long. Sepals c. 1 mm long, connate basally. Corolla 10-16 mm long, glabrous outside, bearded inside, blue purplish or white; barbulae few, simple; wings sinuate, to 0.7 mm wide. Ovary 2-locular; indusium 1-2 mm long, dense purple beard ±equalling bristles on lip. Fruit obovoid, 3-6 mm long, rugose, glabrous or pubescent.
