Characteristics

Spreading shrub to 60 cm tall, with long, stiff, not appressed hairs or almost glabrous. Leaves sessile, narrowly oblong to obovate, entire or few-toothed; lamina 10–30 mm long, 1–5 mm wide. Flowers in terminal spikes to 15 cm long; bracts mostly lanceolate, 6–11 mm long, fringed by long, stiff hairs; bracteoles narrowly lanceolate to linear, 5–6 mm long, longer than fruit, silky basally. Sepals rim-like, shortly undulate, c. 1 mm long. Corolla 8–10 mm long, with sparse, stiff, very long hairs outside, bearded inside, pale blue; barbulae simple or papillate apically; wings 0.3 mm wide. Ovary incompletely 2-locular; indusium 1 mm long, glabrous or hairs not reaching lips. Fruit cylindrical, c. 3 mm long, tuberculate, glabrous.
