Characteristics

Spreading shrub to 50 cm tall, often with tough, woody lower branches, with soft, simple hairs at 90° and numerous short, glandular ones. Leaves sessile, obovate to oblong-obovate, dentate; lamina 3-4 cm long, 1-2 cm wide. Flowers in spikes to 15 cm long; bracts leafy; bracteoles linear-lanceolate, 6-8 mm long. Sepals rim-like, sinuate. Corolla 16-18 mm long, pubescent outside with simple hairs at 90° and short, glandular ones, densely bearded inside, blue; barbulae simple. Ovary 2-locular; indusium 1.5 mm long, erect purplish hairs at base exceeding lips. Fruit not seen.
