Characteristics

Prostrate shrub, hairy or glabrous; branches to 50 cm long. Leaves sessile, linear to elliptic, broad basally, sometimes recurved, entire, with or without prominent axillary hairs; lamina to 90 mm long and 15 mm wide. Flowers in compact, axillary spikes to 30 mm long; bracts leaf-like but smaller; bracteoles lanceolate, to 14 mm long. Sepals rim-like, undulate, to 1 mm long. Corolla 8-15 mm long, with dense, appressed, golden or yellowish hairs outside, hairy inside on lobes and throat, white to cream or rarely mauve; barbulae fimbriate; wings c. 1 mm wide. Ovary 1-locular except basally; indusium to 2 mm wide, base with long, loose, white hairs. Fruit ovoid, c. 4 mm long, tuberculate, glabrous.
