Spreading subshrub to perennial herb to 1 m tall, mostly glabrous. Leaves sessile, filiform to oblanceolate, entire or denticulate; lamina 1.5-7 cm long, 1-5 mm wide. Flowers in terminal spikes to 4 cm long; bracts narrowly triangular and keeled or filiform, 4-14 mm long; bracteoles lanceolate to filiform, 2-6 mm long. Sepals rim-like, 0.3 mm high. Corolla 5-9 mm long, hairy or glabrous outside, bearded inside, pale blue to white; barbulae flat, papillate apically; wings 0.6 mm wide. Ovary 2-locular; indusium c. 1 mm wide, hairy basally, with bristles on lips curved into orifice. Fruit cylindrical to ellipsoidal, obovoid, or depressed ovoid, to 3 mm diam., with swollen ribs, smooth, rarely pubescent.
