Characteristics

Divaricate shrub to 1.5 m tall, often with dwarf branchlets, stellate-pubescent also with minute glandular hairs. Leaves often crowded, obtuse, oblong-elliptic to narrowly oblong, tapering towards base, slightly recurved, entire or dentate; lamina 15-50 mm long, 3-15 mm wide. Flowers solitary in axils; peduncle 2-14 mm long; bracteoles ovate, 8-12 mm long. Sepals rim-like, sinuate, with long hairs. Corolla 15-23 mm long, gibbous at base and curved backwards above the swelling, stellate-pubescent outside, bearded inside, yellowish or orange-brown; barbulae simple, 0.5 mm wide; wings to 1 mm wide or obsolete. Indusium glabrous except lips. Fruit c. 5 mm diam., glabrous, black.
