Characteristics

A creeper that loses its leaves during the year. The leaves are narrowly sword shaped and 5-12 cm long by 1-3 cm wide. They taper to the tip and are round at the base and there are some teeth towards the end. They are pale green underneath. The flowers are yellow. Male and female plants are separate and can occur on separate plants or the same plant. The fruit are fleshy with a stone side. They are red and sweet and edible.
