Characteristics

Small tree 2–10 m high. Leaves glabrous or sparsely simple-pubescent on the veins below; lamina narrowly to broadly elliptic (rarely ovate or obovate), (60–) 90–140 (–170) mm long, (20–) 30–50 (–63) mm wide, base cuneate, margin entire, apex bluntly acuminate; petiole (3–) 5–10 (–15) mm long; stipules triangular or ovate, 3–7 mm long, densely pubescent or pilose along the midline. Inflorescence axis and flowers glabrous or sparsely rusty-pubescent. Pedicels 2.5–7.5 mm long. Hypanthium 1.8–3.3 mm diam. Sepals 2–4 mm long. Petals 1.8–3 mm long. Stamens 1.7–2.7 mm long. Style sparsely pubescent, 1.8–2.5 mm long, the apex slightly lobed. Fruit black or reddish-brown, obovoid, 6–8 mm long. Seed 5–6 mm long, greyish.
