Characteristics

Stem 250 mm tall, 2 mm diam., simple, erect, pubescent in two broad bands alternating at the nodes. Leaves opposite and decussate, lamina 18-34 x 8-14 mm, oblong-deltoid, base more or less truncate, apex subacute, margins repand-revolute, hispidulous near margins and on midrib below, petiole 2 mm long. Inflorescences in the upper leaf axils, c.6-flowered, lowermost peduncle 36 mm long, puberulous. Pedicels c.10 mm long, puberulous. Calyx: sepals 4 x 1.5 mm lanceolate, glabrous inside, pubescent outside. Corolla lobed almost to the base, lobes 9 x 5 mm, replicate, glabrous except for a few small hairs on the margins and at the base inside, blackish-green. Corona lobes 2 x 1.5 mm, much shorter than the gynostegium, green, very fleshy, subquadrate in outline, truncate, margin somewhat crenate, appendage a minute vertical tooth about 0.5 mm from the outer margin. Anthers with appendages c.1 x 1 mm, ovate, white, inflexed over the rim of the gynostegial head: corpusculum c.0-3 mm long, very conspicuously flanged; pollinium attachment subterminal; pollinium c.0.8 mm long, compressed obtriangular. Gynostegium 4 mm high, the head 2 mm diam. excavated under the anther appendages, green. Fruit not known.
