Characteristics

Stems 10-28 cm tall, rarely branched. Leaves opposite and decussate; lamina 37-47 x 7-15 mm, oblong to oblanceolate or oblong-elliptic; petiole 15 mm long. Inflorescences 1-5 per stem, 4-6-flowered, the flowers of all the umbels on a stem forming a single head scarcely exceeding the leaves; peduncles 10-20 mm long; pedicels 5-9 mm long. Calyx segments 4.5-6 x 1.5-2 mm. Corolla lobes 8-10 x 3.5-4 mm, flat, held erect at anthesis, white; dorsal surface densely pilose in upper half, ventral surface densely pubescent, margin ciliate. Corona 4-5 mm long, much exceeding the gynostegium, white; each lobe oblong, flat, erect, the apex shallowly bifid or trifid, the ventral surface with two inconspicuous longitudinal fleshy ridges. Anthers with appendages c. 1 mm long, quadrate, white, appressed against the side and top of the gynostegial head; corpusculum 0.38-0.43 mm long, not flanged; pollinium attachment subapical; pollinium 0.73-0.78 mm long, compressed oblong-ovoid, the germination zone extending from the apex along 3/5 of the outer edge. Gynostegium white. Fruit unknown.
