Stamens included, anthers sessile, introrse, upper two thirds fertile and dehiscent longitudinally. Ovary of two free rounded carpels; pistil head with a basal cylindrical part 0.4–0.9 mm long and a bifid stigmoid apex; disk present, adnate to the ovary. More
Seeds few, surrounded by a thin red or orange pulpy aril, obliquely ellipsoid, with a deep groove to 1/2 their width at the hilar side and shallowly grooved at the other sides, minutely rugose; endosperm copious, starchy, white, ruminate, surrounding the spathulate embryo.
Stamens included or nearly so; anthers sessile, narrowly triangular, acute at the apex, sagittate at the base, glabrous or sometimes papillose, introrse, with upper two-thirds fertile.
Pistil glabrous or nearly so; ovary subglobose, composed of 2 free carpels; disk adnate to the ovary for ± 7/10 of its height; clavuncula cylindrical; stigma minute, 2-lobed.
Corolla with tube yellow and limb creamy to yellow; tube slightly shorter to much longer than the calyx; lobes in the bud overlapping to the right, spreading.
Leaves opposite, those of a pair equal, petiolate, with one or two rows of colleters in the axils; lamina obovate, cuneate at the base.
Shrub or small tree, repeatedly dichotomously branched and with 2 inflorescences in each fork, with white latex; branchlets terete.
Fruit composed of 2 almost free adaxially dehiscent carpels, wall thinly coriaceous, irregularly striate, grooved when dry.
Flowers actinomorphic except for the sometimes slightly unequal sepals.
Inflorescences corymbose, congested.
