Annual herb, 0.05-0.16 m high; erect or ascending, base simple or branched. Leaves up to 10 x 10 mm, ovate. Flowers in few-flowered cymes; peduncles and pedicels filiform, bracteate. Calyx: segments 5, lanceolate to oblong, margins entire or ± erose, joined for 0.75-1.50 mm, keeled or narrowly winged. Corolla yellow, entire or erose. Stamens inserted 0.5-1.0 mm below corolla sinuses; anthers with large or small apical glands. Style with small swelling below or above middle; stigma 2-lobed, capitate or clavate. Fruit a capsule.

Flowers: in lax, few-flowered cymes, pedicels long; filaments inserted 0.5-1.0 mm below corolla sinuses; style with a small stigmatic swelling, usually below middle, but sometimes above middle; calyx segments keeled; corolla with tube 4.5-7.0 mm long, yellow; Oct.-Jul.
