Characteristics

Stem erect, rarely sparsely branched in lower part, 5–25 cm high. Basal leaves absent. Stem leaves 2 or 3 pairs, sessile, usually broadly ovate, 4–12 mm long, acute to obtuse. Inflorescence a 2–4-branched dichasium; bracts resembling leaves and ±same size; pedicels 3–8 mm long below, absent above. Flowers 5-merous, 4–5 mm long. Calyx lobes lanceolate, 3–6 mm long, acute and erect at apex, broadly membranous at margins. Corolla lemon-yellow; tube cylindrical, 3–4 mm long; lobes broadly lanceolate, spreading, c. 1.5 mm long. Stamens 5; anthers c. 1 mm long. Ovary c. 2 mm long; style c. 0.5 mm long; stigmas c. 0.7 mm long. Capsule obovoid, to c. 4 mm long. Seeds c. 0.3 mm diam., pale to dark greyish brown, sub-translucent.
